Opsero Electronic Design Inc. (“Opsero”) is a Canadian company based in Québec, Quebec, that designs and sells FPGA Mezzanine Cards to businesses, institutions and professional users. This policy explains what personal information Opsero collects, why it collects it, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and what you can ask Opsero to do with it.
It applies to opsero.com, docs.opsero.com, download.opsero.com, fpgadeveloper.com, boards.fpgadeveloper.com, ethernetfmc.com, fpgadrive.com, camerafmc.com and to personal information Opsero receives by email, by purchase order or through its distributors.
Opsero sells to businesses and professional users. Most of the information it holds is business contact information: a name, a job title, a company, a work email address, a work telephone number and a shipping address.
Who is responsible
The person responsible for the protection of personal information at Opsero is Jeffrey Johnson, President. Questions about this policy, requests to access or correct your information, and complaints can be sent to [email protected] or to Opsero Electronic Design Inc., 8890 rue d’Urfé, Québec, QC G1G 6J5, Canada.
What information Opsero collects
When you contact Opsero. The contact form and direct email exchanges collect your name, email address, and anything you choose to write in your message, which may include your company, your role and details of your project.
When you order. Processing an order requires your name, company, billing and shipping address, email address, telephone number and, where applicable, a purchase order number, tax or exemption number, and the name of your customs broker. Payment is processed by Stripe; Opsero receives confirmation that a payment succeeded and the last digits of the card, and does not receive or store full payment card numbers.
When you ask for support. Support exchanges may include logs, screenshots, schematics or design files you send. These are used only to answer your question.
When you visit the website. Opsero does not use analytics, advertising or tracking services on its websites. The web server keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
Opsero does not collect sensitive personal information, does not buy contact lists, and does not use personal information to build profiles or to make decisions about you by automated means.
Why Opsero collects it
Opsero uses personal information to:
- answer enquiries and prepare quotations;
- process, ship and invoice orders, and handle returns and warranty claims;
- provide technical support;
- meet its legal obligations, including tax, accounting, customs and export control record-keeping;
- protect its systems against fraud and misuse; and
- send product announcements to people who have asked to receive them.
Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, Opsero relies on the performance of a contract for order processing, on its legitimate interest in answering enquiries and running its business for correspondence and support, on legal obligation for tax, customs and export records, and on consent for product announcements. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Cookies and tracking technologies
Opsero’s websites use cookies for the operation of the shopping cart and checkout, which are provided by Snipcart. You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings; the site remains usable if you do. Opsero does not use advertising cookies and does not allow third parties to use cookies on its sites for their own advertising.
Opsero does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, as there is no agreed standard for how they should be interpreted.
Who Opsero shares information with
Opsero does not sell personal information and does not share it so that others can market to you. It shares what is necessary with:

Distributors are independent businesses. When you buy from Digi-Key, Digi-Key collects your information under its own privacy policy, and Opsero receives only what it needs to support and fulfil that sale.
If Opsero’s business or part of it is ever sold or transferred, personal information may be transferred as part of it, subject to the same protections.
Where information is stored
Opsero is based in Quebec. Some of its service providers — including its hosting, email, payment and shipping providers — store or process information outside Quebec, principally in Canada, the United States and the European Union. Before entrusting personal information to a provider outside Quebec, Opsero assesses whether the information will receive protection equivalent to that required under Quebec law, and enters into a written agreement with the provider to that effect.
How long information is kept
Order, invoice, customs and export records are kept for seven years, which covers the retention periods required by Canadian tax and customs law. Enquiries that do not lead to an order are kept for two years. Support correspondence is kept for the life of the product plus two years, so that a later question about the same board can be answered in context. Mailing list subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
When information is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for and no legal obligation requires it to be kept, it is deleted or anonymised.
How information is protected
Opsero limits access to personal information to those who need it to do their work, uses encrypted connections for its websites and email, keeps its systems and software up to date, and requires its service providers to apply comparable protections. No system is completely secure, and Opsero cannot guarantee that a transmission over the internet is free from interception.
Opsero will not ask you for a password or for full payment card details by email.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask Opsero to:
- confirm whether it holds personal information about you, and give you a copy of it;
- correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;
- delete information it no longer has a legal or business reason to keep;
- stop sending you product announcements; and
- withdraw a consent you have given.
If you are in Quebec, you may also ask for the information you have provided to be given to you in a structured, commonly used technological format, and you may ask Opsero to stop disseminating information about you or to de-index a link where the law allows it.
If the General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, you may also object to processing based on legitimate interest, ask for processing to be restricted while a dispute is resolved, and ask for your information to be transferred to another organisation.
Send requests to [email protected]. Opsero will respond within thirty days. You may be asked to confirm your identity before information is released.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how Opsero has handled your information or your request, you can complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can complain to the supervisory authority in your country.
Confidentiality incidents
If a confidentiality incident occurs that presents a risk of serious injury, Opsero will notify the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec and the people concerned promptly, as required by law, and will keep a register of incidents.
Children
Opsero’s products and websites are directed at businesses and professional users. Opsero does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
Opsero may update this policy. The current version is always published on this page, with the date of the last revision below. Where a change is significant, Opsero will make that clear on the page.
