Frequently asked questions
Is the mezzanine card compatible with Ultra96 V2?
The mezzanine is fully compatible with both the Ultra96 V1 and V2.
The mezzanine was designed to comply with the 96Boards specification, so it should at least be electrically and mechanically compatible with
all 96Boards dev platforms that follow the specification. However, for the mezzanine to actually function on a particular platform, the SoC
on that platform must be capable of transmitting and receiving SGMII over LVDS signals, AND it must be able to do so using the specific pins
to which those signals are assigned on the high-speed expansion connector (see the
high-speed expansion connector pinout for details).
Currently, full compatibility has only been verified with the Avnet Ultra96 v1 and v2.
Where can I find the example designs and documentation?
For example designs, please visit the Github repository for the 96B Quad Ethernet Mezzanine.
For documentation, please visit docs.ethernet96.com.
Do I need purchased IP to use 96B Quad Ethernet Mezzanine?
No. We have an example design for the Avnet Ultra96 v1 and v2 that uses the Zynq Ultrascale+
built-in Gigabit Ethernet MACs and does not
require any purchased IP. However, if you wish to use a soft IP to implement the MACs, such as the AXI Ethernet Subsystem IP, then you
typically need to pay for it.
